The existing release workflow also clones the registry-examples repo and creates a new tag every time we create a service registry release. This tight coupling impacts the release of the registry since the workflow fails whenever there are build issues in the registry-examples repo.

The workflow must be decoupled and the tagging of the examples repo must be done as part of the separate workflow. We have the following requirements:-

  1. The workflow should run automatically whenever a new release of the registry is created
  2. In case there are failures, we should be able to run it manually
