Feature Request - New Agents and Attributes: Add "Family Name" under the attribute "names"

The Diversity and Inclusion Committee today considered the new Agent and Agent Attribute changes.

We had the suggestion to add Family Name under the attributes Names
definition: the name provided by your family, in Western cultures the “surname”

We know that this will be a repeat of Last Name, but the term Last Name is very western centric culturally. To open up the use of Agents for more cultures (Bionomia webinar: consider how “first” and “last” names don’t make sense in some cultures and Personal names around the world), we wanted to suggest adding Family Name to the attributes as an alternative to Last Name. People of different cultures can pick and choose which they feel is most appropriate.

The committee suggests that it be added under Names, and be publicly viewable.

I opened up this issue for discussion, but am happy to create a Code Table Issue if needed.

I think that this should be a code table request and that we should REPLACE last name with family name.

Agree - having two overlapping things is a recipe for duplicates, looks to me like 'last name' can fit entirely within ~'family name'.
