Homepage Posts & Carousel blocks: change alt text on linked image to improve accessibility #1115

One of our publishers had a third-party audit their site for accessibility, and they came back with the following suggestion for the Homepage Posts block:

This image link is not properly labeled. Ensure this image is assigned an alt attribute that tells users where this link goes and/or what it does.

Reference: 2.4.4 (WCAG 2.0 A)

WordPress recently updated the Featured Image block to use the post title as the alt text , so that could be the same fix we use here.

Though it wasn't included in the report, the Post Carousel has a similar set up, with the image linking to the article.
