overview

For the IoT Embedded firmware course project, we have decided to work on “Indoor air quality sensing” topic, which falls under the option 2 category. The aim of this project is to gauge indoor air quality by utilizing two sensors namely SGP40, the air quality sensor and the SHTC3 humidity sensor, and accordingly display current VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) and humidity levels to the user. Also, in order to indicate to the user, we shall glow red led for poorer air quality and green led for good air quality. In order to implement this, we shall employ “Bluetooth Low Energy” protocol as the fundamental means of communication between server and client. We shall have two blue gecko boards each for server and client implementations. SGP40 and SHTC3 sensors shall be interfaced via I2C on the server-side whereas display messages, and led illumination shall be done on the client-side. Some of the used cases of this project would be inside homes, indoor halls, indoor stadiums, hospitals for gauging air quality and accordingly utilizing air purifiers, humidifiers
