Several design decisions have been discussed, including:

  • The division of cyclonedx-bom into models and specs
    • How to handle new versions of the specification
  • Input validation
  • XML serialization/deserialization (why our own library?)
  • Quietly v. loudly converting invalid SPDX identifiers to valid ones where possible
