Heap Sort

Heap Sort is a comparison based sorting technique based on Binary Heap data structure. It is similar to selection sort where we first find the maximum element and place the maximum element at the end. We repeat the same process for remaining element.

Sudo Code

procedure heapSort( A : list of sortable items )
    n = length(A)
    for i = 1 to n-1 inclusive do
        /* if this pair is out of order */
        if A[i-1] > A[i] then
            /* swap them and remember something changed */
            swap( A[i-1], A[i] )
            swapped = true
        end if
    end for
end procedure

procedure heapSortDesc( A : list of sortable items )
    n = length(A)
    for i = 1 to n-1 inclusive do
        /* if this pair is out of order */
        if A[i-1] < A[i] then
            /* swap them and remember something changed */
            swap( A[i-1], A[i] )
            swapped = true
