product_management
Sellers and market managers need a clear, easy to navigate interface that allows them to manage their products. This includes adding new products and editing existing products.
All products should fall into a clean, simple taxonomy. The taxonomy should be consistent, free of duplicate categories, should have a logical hierarchy, and should minimize the possibility of human error. If someone is adding "Apples" it should be easy for the taxonomy levels to be applied.
All product listings should show the product's story: the who, how and what of the product. This is important for maintaining traceability. Products should also have identifying information such as the unit, product name. All product listings are associated with a single seller.
We want to encourage users to display real images of their products. Uploading images should be very simple. Ideally a farmer could use a cell phone to take a picture in the field and easily upload it to the product listing.
Entering and editing inventory should be very simple. Sellers should have the options of applying lot numbers and good-from dates. Products that are not available for purchase should not display on the shop page (zero inventory, product is expired, good-from date has not started yet).
Sellers should have the option of offering different prices for different customers, or different prices for bulk purchases. Sellers should also have the option to set up a minimum quantity that the customer must purchase to be able to order the product. A product must have a price in order for it to appear on the shop page.
Sellers can choose to assign different delivery options to certain products. It should be very easy to understand what delivery options are available and what is selected.
Sometimes sellers need to post listing for similar products (maybe only 1 or 2 fields change between each product listing). It should be simple to create the new product listing by using an existing product as a stating point, instead of creating it completely from scratch.
Sellers should be able to preview their product listing so that they can understand how it will look on the shop page. If any information is missing or if for any reason the product will not immediately display on the shop page (no inventory, etc.) it should be very clear. On the master list of products, it should be very easy for users to see what products are and are not currently available for sale. If any product is not currently available on the shop page it should be very easy to understand why.
