Testing template after making changes is not contributor-friendly #119

As discussed in this comment, the template needs some kind of automation when it comes to testing it after making changes, especially because any simple change can affect all combinations of the template.

As a starting point, maybe we could add a target for development that loops through different combinations of options and runs the default build target on each of them

I've added #135 to test if a project builds for arbitrary template arguments
