Description

Do you think it is worth having a cartopy google group?
xarray has one and it is used for general discussion and to highlight work using xarray (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/xarray)

I simply wanted to say thanks to the developers as I created a cool cartopy map in my first open source python package (https://github.com/raybellwaves/cfanalytics).
See the map here: https://www.reddit.com/r/crossfit/comments/85vqpq/which_region_performed_the_best_for_184/

I was mainly using cartopy.io.shapereader. I'm happy to add something similar to the gallery but most of the stuff is covered in: http://scitools.org.uk/cartopy/docs/latest/gallery/hurricane_katrina.html#sphx-glr-gallery-hurricane-katrina-py

The SciTools Google group (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/scitools-iris) can be used for cartopy discussions/questions/announcements etc.

Historically it was created for iris, but recently the name has been changed to reflect the more general use as a combined group for all SciTools projects (however, I just noticed the description still refers to iris...)

Thanks. I would like make this link available to others. Any ideas where I can put together a 'get in touch' section for this repo? (see https://github.com/pydata/xarray#get-in-touch). I guess I could create a GET_IN_TOUCH.md in the cartopy folder

This kind of information should go in the readme so it appears on the repository front page. Our readme is very sparse so this kind of information would be a very useful addition. We have 3 tiers of support: Stackoverflow, Github and Google group; something similar to the section in the xarray readme you linked would work.
