Welcome to the ViewTouch wiki! Topics at right >>>

In 1986 ViewTouch was the world's first, original restaurant point of sale (PoS) solution on the Atari ST. Today ViewTouch is based on Debian Linux and The X Window System, running on the Raspberry Pi and most other CPU platforms. ViewTouch is unique in that it leverages the remote display capabilities of 'X'. allowing Android and Chrome display devices to be ViewTouch terminals. ViewTouch allows multiple touchscreen terminals using the remote display capabilities (i.e., network transparency) of The X Window System. Android tablets and Chrome devices can be used as mobile Point of Sale display terminals by installing the ViewTouch X Server apk

ViewTouch includes a Point of Sale Window Manager and an integrated Graphical Toolkit so anyone can build a touchscreen interface with one's own unique menu and table layout. Standard graphical resolution is 1080p.

There is a Raspberry Pi image available for download from the ViewTouch web site. It is current to April 11, 2019. This download includes the ViewTouch Point of Sale desktop, providing scripts and links to various useful userland packages explained in the Desktop section of the Wiki. Everything one needs, quite literally at one's fingertips!
