[RFC] Video Component #218
Comments
@gabrielwalt : It would be good if we can provide an option for subtitles and captions in videos. Also, provision to play from any third party location like youtube or brightcove any thing else. This component should have provision to add third party video link that we want to play. Another important feature of the video component can be video player. If we can have some OOTB players that can be selected plus add custom players created by extending any of the OOTB players. |
@gabrielwalt : it would be really nice if captions could be stored as content fragments so we could leverage translation services. Also, the ability to use video from AEM Dynamic Media |
if outside video platforms are enabled the core component should provide a design mode setting to configure the player id for the supported platforms or possible a set of player ids per platform |
Hi Team, |
…rent issues: no tests, no clientlibs, poster image not working.
+1 subtitles & captions Could we also consider sources outside the DAM, such as YouTube? We have a YouTube channel, but repost many of the videos our site via a custom video component. |
I'll close this for now as we won't have bandwidth to address this within foreseeable future. |
Hi @gabrielwalt |
Sorry to revive that old issue, but not having a video component for AEM Assets seems like a big limitation as almost every website needs that (due to GDPR concerns with external providers). Also as Adobe is heavily promoting the asset functionality (with and without Dynamic Media) is it hard to explain to customers why the integration with AEM is not provided out of the box. |
+1 on this. This is clearly a lacking feature in AEM(aaCS) I am also trying to use the Dynamic Media component to show video's, but it is very cumbersome and not clear / ux friendly at all |
relates to #1624 |
Thanks for reaching out again and sorry for the delay. We will revisit this request in our next grooming session and provide an update. |
SITES-10394 |
@bpauli thanks for the update! any update on an ETA for this? |
@bpauli @vladbailescu When can we expect an update (i.e. your next grooming session). Quite some time passed since December... |
@bpauli has there been any progress on a dynamic media core component for video? it's almost 2024 now, I would have thought by this time that Adobe's video offering would be fully integrated with AEM. By now I should be able to drop a video core component on a page, get all of my video schema for SEO automatically generated and included, captions from Assets, etc. And the page properties should be smart enough to pull in a video's poster image if a video is selected as the featured image. |
[Request To Comment] To anybody who intends to use the Core Components, please provide your feedback about the following requirements. We want to make sure that we build a component that fits your needs, so don't hesitate to tell us how that component should work, so that you will be able to use it.
User Story
As a page or template author, I need a component to display a video on the page, so that visitors can view it.
