Typically after I upgrade a flavor of Linux that I'm using say, ParrotOS or Linux Mint, bpytop just stops working. My only working theory is that maybe APT uninstalls something that bpytop needs to execute, but I just can't figure out what it is.

Install any Ubuntu/Debian based Linux system (That's what I use)
Upgrade to system to a newer version (i.e, Debian 11 to Debian 12 or Linux Mint 21.3 to Linux Mint 22)
Try to run bpytop

Bpytop to run normally.

  • bpytop version: 1.0.68
  • psutil version: 5.9.4-1+b1
  • (Linux) Linux distribution and version: Raspbian OS 12 (bookworm), Linux Mint 22 (Wilma), Parrot OS 6.1 (Lorikeet)
  • (OSX/FreeBSD) Os release version: N/A
  • Terminal used: mate-terminal, gnome-terminal
  • Font used: Monospace 10

  • Python version: 3.11.2

Additional context

(try running bpytop with --debug flag if error.log is empty) < couldn't even run bpytop with the -v flag
