convert_objects error

When I run fr = Fred(api_key='xxx', response_type='df')
I get the following error:
AttributeError: 'DataFrame' object has no attribute 'convert_objects'

The program will run fine if the response type is xml or json but gives this error if i try to use any of the other types.
