The packet filter module is at the core of the CETIC 6LBR, it provides several functionalities :

  • Packet filtering based on source and type
  • Packet switching based on source and destination, and packet type and content for advanced switching
  • Packet bridging between Ethernet and 802.15.4 :
    • MAC address translation, based on sicslow-ethernet
    • ICMPv6 packet translation, base on sicslow-ethernet
    • FF-FF (MAC-48 <→ EUI-64) extension is used to not conflict with 6LoWPAN address compression
