Hi, YouTube will guess your location based on IP. This setting affects the trending/homepage/suggested videos (eg you will get trending videos in German).

You can change it from the dropdown menu, but if you are using Incognito you will be changing it a lot. the PREF cookie can be accessed from JS, and if it's missing, a request to https://www.youtube.com/?persist_gl=1&gl=US seems to do the trick.

Is there interest for such a feature/pull request? Thanks.

sounds good!
incognito mode would be better with a default set of cookies or extensions to skip TOS-/cookie-requests .
