Yes, the app runs now but anything related to Firebase silently fails(which could introduce some bugs when testing other things). I've looked through the logs and there's this warning:
W/FirebaseApp: Default FirebaseApp failed to initialize because no default options were found. This usually means that com.google.gms:google-services was not applied to your gradle project.
So it seems Firebase expects that the plugin is applied which we don't do, I'm not sure how we could get passed this without swallowing the exception like in your commit.
But I think you should merge the code because it would make things easier for anyone trying to contribute(not getting hit by an error to fix from the start). Someone trying to fix code using firebase features will need anyway to provide his own firebase json file to actually do the testing.

Yep, you are right @lukstbit . In case anyone wants to test any firebase related features they will have to provide a json file. |
