What this is

An early stage two way sync between Org and http://todotxt.com.

Pull requests and bug reports very welcome, of course.

Philosophy

Org is the canonical source. All the todotxt files are projections.

Keeps out of your Org files. Will never directly edit them. Only exception is org-todotxt-inbox-for-pull where new tasks are appended to. I strongly suggest that is a separate Org file.

Example configuration

(defun djr/org-todotxt-auto-push-all-agendas ()
  (interactive)
;; Sync in new tasks from this file and then push out
  (org-todotxt-sync "~/Dropbox/Apps/Simpletask App Folder/todo.txt")
;; Just push out to this file, overwriting whatever was there every time.
  (org-todotxt-push "~/Dropbox/todo/clockwork-todo.txt"))

;; Check the docstrings for these variables
(setq org-todotxt-auto-push-function 'djr/org-todotxt-auto-push-all-agendas
      org-todotxt-auto-push-delay 1
      org-todotxt-auto-push-file-list '("~/Dropbox/Documents/gtd/gtd.org")
      org-todotxt-inbox-for-pull "~/Dropbox/Documents/gtd/inbox.org")

;; Use settings above and install an auto-push hook
(org-todotxt-install-after-save-hook)

What still needs to be done

Roughly in order of interest to me:

Selectively strip out Org Links

  • Keep http links and titles, they are useful in the context of a todotxt file

x Strip out probably all other org-link-types

Honour dates when pulling in new tasks

Pull in done markers (x) and mark tasks as DONE in Org files

Pull in when the Context changes

Pull in when the Project changes

Pull in due date for all tasks

Push out priorities

Pull in priorities

Consider https://github.com/lewang/flx instead of org-id generation for matching tasks
