Deleting content items linked from media items doesn't display a warning #25
Comments
Hi Tom, At the moment it does not support linking from media items to content. I marked this as a feature for a future release Dave |
Hi Dave - this would be very useful to have. It is still something planned for a future release? |
Hi Fiona, I must admit this is not highest on my todo list. I don't think it is a very common setup to have a media item linking to content. However I am happy to accept a PR for this. I am also planning to start working on a version for V8. Maybe this scenario will be come a lot easier. Dave |
Thanks Dave - look forward to v8. Question though - most narrative web pages contain images, so how do other set-ups link images to content? We link media to content so that the same image can be used on multiple pages (eg home page and narrative page); or as thumbnail and in a gallery. How do other people do this? Fiona |
Hi Fiona, Just to get this clear. You have to go in to the media section and go to a image. And then on the image select on which pages it is visible ? Because most the sites I have seen work the other way around. On a content item you select which images are shown. Dave |
Yes you're right. :) |
Hi Fiona, If the image is selected on a content item nexu should make the relation. And warn when deleting the image. I don't have the details of your website. But you can find the supported property editors here : https://github.com/dawoe/umbraco-nexu/blob/develop/docs/introduction.md#supported-property-editors Maybe you are using a property editor not in this list ? |
We have added a MNTP picker as a property on image media items (so we can credit the providers of the images and also create a gallery page for each provider). Providers exist outside the home node, because they are shared elements.
When a media item is linked to a content item, there is no warning when you go to delete the content item.
Using Umbraco 7.7.11 and Nexu 1.4.1
Let me know if you need more detail.
