Hey! Just ran into this same static/interference issue on Windows and found a fix that works.

The problem seems to be with the LocalAudioPlayer helper from OpenAI's library - it doesn't play nice with Windows audio systems. Here's what I
changed:

Instead of using the async streaming approach with LocalAudioPlayer:

This causes static/interference

async with openai.audio.speech.with_streaming_response.create(...) as response:
await LocalAudioPlayer().play(response)

I switched to pygame for audio playback:

This works perfectly - no static!

Save to temp file

with tempfile.NamedTemporaryFile(delete=False, suffix=".mp3") as temp_file:
for chunk in response.iter_bytes(chunk_size=1024):
temp_file.write(chunk)

Play with pygame

pygame.mixer.init()
pygame.mixer.music.load(temp_path)
pygame.mixer.music.play()

while pygame.mixer.music.get_busy():
time.sleep(0.1)

pygame.mixer.quit()

Main changes:

Removed the async/await pattern
Used the synchronous client.audio.speech.create() instead
Write the response to a temp file first
Use pygame.mixer to handle playback (way more reliable on Windows)

Also had to update the dependencies from openai[voice_helpers] to just openai and pygame.

Been testing it for a while now and the audio is crystal clear - no more robot noises or interference. Hope this helps!
