In the same vein as #127253 I could see passing break-down-by categories to discover as disabled filters. Take the following visualization:

Clicking "Explore raw data" would open Discover to show all the documents in the visualization, but with three disabled filters, one for each category. The user could then use these filters to look at a particular slice of the stack.
