In order to reduce the initial setup effort by the user until we have a configuration UI, the default source should use wildcard-based index patterns instead of aliases.

Known Limitations
Using index patterns like this leads to the source status api reporting that the alias does not exist and that no indices match. Since that api is not used on the client side yet, this has no further effect right now.
