Almost every time I see someone being signed up on the mobile app (in person, a few times a week) the words "riot-bot won't shut up, so we'll ignore it for now" are uttered. The complaint goes a bit deeper into how the notifications are handled and the relevance of the content.
While we're trying to walk the person through how the app works riot-bot is happily spamming a private chat, causing notifications and generally getting in the way. We use our own homeserver, and can't get around not having riot-bot interrupting us. The delay between the bot's messages just add to the frustration as they are timed just far enough apart to induce more irritation.
The other complaint about riot-bot is that the videos are meaningless for the mobile apps. They don't show you how to use the app, and are generally seen as spam. An in-app tutorial would be preferred over videos.

I suggest we just have riot set a pushrule to mute the bot before inviting it. (Or we could change the default push rules on synapse to specialcase poor riotbot)
