Interestingly even though flashing now succeeds, the application doesn't seem to start - I'm not sure if this is just my devkit though.

Why were certain boards previously working if we were writing to invalid addresses? The linked issue seems to only effect certain boards, I'm not really sure what's going on here.

This does continue to work for me, though. Application ran as expected, but I only tested with a simple one.
