Rust toolchain:

• official toolchain released 1.58.1. Decision: we keep 1.58.0.0 for Xtensa - CVE does not seem to affect functionality in Xtensa part

Windows Installer Updates:

• esp-idf-svc/embedded-svc

  • Wrappers for the ESP-IDF MQTT client now with demo
  • Wrappers for the ESP-IDF Event Loop support now with demo
  • Wrappers for the ESP-IDF Timer support now with demo

• esp-idf-hal

  • Completed: simple ULP peripheral for loading ULP-FSM or ULP-RISCV programs, as well as for starting/stopping the ULP timer. The "riscv ULP HAL" for esp32s2/esp32s3 is still there, but under a different module name

• Other small stuff:

  • no_std compatible Condvar implementation with [corresponding embedded-svc trait]https://github.com/esp-rs/embedded-svc/blob/master/src/mutex.rs#L28() complementing the already existing Mutex trait and implementation for folks who want to write platform-agnostic no_std code that depends only on embedded-hal/embedded-svc traits

• Build:

  • Completed: support for building ULP-FSM programs and embedding these in Rust crates identical to the ULP-FSM support for IDF CMake builds. With some extra configuration, should work for bare-metal crates too
  • Builds on linux-aarch64 should work now (Raspberry Pi?) @georgik if you can check... thanks!
  • Checked - native build now uses the latest GCC toolchain on Windows, no more linking issues
  • Builds against ESP-IDF master (5.0) work fine again
  • esp-idf-sys upgraded to latest PlatformIO which uses ESP-IDF 4.3.2
  • Updated esp-idf-template to now list ESP-IDF v4.4 as "stable", and v4.3.2 as "previous stable"

• I created PRs regarding linux-aarch64: add cmake for aarch64 linux and build: remove ulp_gcc_toolchain for aarch64 linux esp-idf-sys#62.

1. cannot find type TcpStream in this scope (linux-aarch64)
2. cmake errors
3. inline assembly is not stable yet on this architecture (windows 10)

• Had a PR merged which adds support for flashing via USB Serial JTAG
  • Allow for flashing via the USB Serial JTAG peripheral espflash#122
• Merged a PR which (hopefully) helps with some connectivity issues
  • Fix flasher::sync espflash#123
• Merged a PR which allows passing unstable (-Z) options to cargo
• Serial port now resets baud to 115_200 prior to starting the serial monitor

esp-hal

• Merged a PR adding procmacros crate with #[ram] attribute implemented
  • Initial implementation of ram proc macro  esp-hal#6
• Merged a PR adding initial support for peripheral interrupts for the ESP32 and ESP32-C3
  • Add basic interrupt support for ESP32C3 and ESP32 esp-hal#10
• Refactored the GPIO module to expose traits

xtensa-toolchain

• First version released on GitHub Marketplace
