Bounding box for group doesn't update when grouped objects are changed

I'm having a problem with the bounding box of a group, when objects inside the group are modified. When I change the stroke width and width/height of grouped objects, the bounding box does not automatically update.

In those cases the best thing you can do is ungroup , modify, regroup.
The operations you need to take in order for the group to stay mostly unchanged are those, and you are not doing much else extra.

I understand how this is not a trivial thing to understand and maybe a specific example or method would be needed.
