Flameshot Version

Flameshot v11.0.0 (11.0.0-2 Debian)
Compiled with Qt 5.15.2

Installation Type

Linux, MacOS, or Windows Package manager (apt, pacman, eopkg, choco, brew, ...), AppImage

Operating System type and version

ubuntu 22.04

Description

Why does Flameshot take a general screenshot of the screen before letting me select the screenshot area?
For example, this is what happens when I select "Take Screenshot":
Screenshot from 2023-07-11 20-06-09
It takes a screenshot of the entire screen, then saves that screenshot in the Pictures folder, and displays this window, and displays a message that is not true, because after I click Share, the screenshot creation window that should have appeared in the beginning appears.

Can this behavior be changed?

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install Flameshot
  2. Click "Take Screenshot"

Why does Flameshot take a general screenshot of the screen before letting me select the screenshot area?

Well, in short, because you chose to use Gnome Wayland. It would have probably saved a lot of your time if you would have searched among open and closed issues or search in our documentation:

https://flameshot.org/docs/guide/wayland-help/#gnome-wayland

Duplicate of all the issues below. Reading any of them would have saved you time and energy:

Anyways, thanks for investing time and opening the issue.
