Some other type guards usage related to issue #2240
It seems to pass the tests, do we need to check other things?

Unfortunately, I have to revert my own changes that use this feature. There are too many issues that I cannot make work for all versions of TypeScript ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Oh I see, I forgot the previous versions of Typescript. Good to know! It was a good try :D
