SenseRelation, SynsetRelation

I understand that SenseRelation targets are normally other Senses, and SynsetRelation targets are normally other Synsets. But I remember reading (I don't know where now) that in certain cases a SenseRelation target can be a Synset, and a SynsetRelation target can be a Sense.

In the XML document, how do you know what kind of entity the "target" value points to?

We are planning to support sense-synset relations but it is not supported yet.
