Crashes when trying to open stream from VLC #11

Hi,
I installed Endoscope from F-droid this morning (v 1.2) right after having updated to the latest CyanogenMod nightly (Android 5.1) on my phone. I started the stream and opened rtsp://192.168.x.x:8086 to see the stream: worked fine. I could even reduce VLC's buffer to 100 ms and get a pretty snappy video (default codec, H264) and same with sound.

Then, I rebooted my phone, and tried to do the same thing again. This time, I start the stream and Endoscope crashes as soon as a client tries to view the stream. VLC and Kodi trying to access the stream both lead to Endoscope crashing.

The only difference between this morning and now is that on reboot, Android "optimised" the app.
Could this be the cause of Endoscope crashing?

@axelsimon Hi, thank you for installing my app. You said app crashing when you start stream. What happend when you clicked "connect stream" in Endoscope?

So, I "start stream" on Endoscope on phone A (CM 12.1 nightly). If I open VLC to see rtsp://192.168.x.x:8086, Endoscope crashes with "Unfortunately, Endoscope has crashed".
If I try to connect from phone B (running Android 6), just going into Connect stream crashes Endoscope ("Unfortunately," etc.). Trying to start the stream on phone B and connecting to the stream from phone A leads to ERROR UNKNOWN (1)(-21474837448) on phone A, nothing on phone B.

Hope this helps.

I get the same error "ERROR UNKNOWN (1)(-21474837448)" between two devices running KitKat.

You can try to clear the cache of both apps, worked on my phone at least.

on my phone, it only works in lowest resolution, otherwise the streaming server doesn't start and clients cannot connect

@fungs I don't think the development here is very active.

... @MrHeating which is very sad because it seems this is the only open-source camera streaming app left on Android. Given that camera streaming is useful in various circumstances and it is one of the most natural applications for devices equipped with network and camera, it shows how weak the open source ecosystem is on Android, compared to its overall number off users.
