Description

  1. Within the mmp thread's loop, test for the following two changes independently:
  • multihost is disabled on a pool
  • the pool is resumed (e.g. via zpool clear)
instead of treating them as if they are mutually exclusive. This in turn makes the appropriate changes to mmp thread state.
  1. Hold SCL_VDEV when walking the tree to count leaves in vdev_count_leaves().

Motivation and Context

For the state change patch (1), the two conditions are not mutually exclusive. If both occur in the same pass of the mmp thread loop, the mmp_delay will not be set to 0, leading the next import of the pool to perform an activity test even though the user turned off MMP.

For the SCL_VDEV patch, existing code takes no config lock while walking the vdev tree. If another process is changing the tree, the walking code may use vdev_t pointers which are invalid, leading to segfaults or other misbehavior.

How Has This Been Tested?

Local ztest runs and the automated test suite.

A config lock should be held while vdev_count_leaves() walks the tree,
otherwise the pointers reference may become invalid during the walk.

SCL_VDEV is a minimal lock provided for such uses cases.

@dinatale2 can you re-run the Ubuntu 17.10 test? It failed with #7247 which predates my patch, but I do not have the password at home. Thanks!
