I strongly believe that we benefit from an immense diversity in cultures and what that means for an unfathomable range cognitively different approaches to our scientific and cultural methods ... I BELIEVE that we humans are created to be UNIQUE individuals capable of unbelievable levels of accomplishment ... I also do not especially believe that we are the end of the line, I but it would be silly to quarrel with that sort of belief ... I believe that the future of Life and all existence in the Universe is far beyond what humans can begin to imagine ... I love and trust my Creator more than I love myself or my species ... I love life and love my fellow humans, but to ignore the rather glaring shortcomings of ourselves or species as a whole is just not smart or realistic. Humans are not that smart ...
Our Creator is BEYOND anything that humans or the sum total of all human knowledge and artificial intelligence will ever be ... the proof of that is tautological ... the only matter worthy of debate is what we even mean we use any word, let alone a loaded word like Creator ... the semiotics of Nature in even moments of the effemeral world around us, eg a perfect sunset, suggests why our language is so incredibly inadequate in describing these things or in practicing what we refer to as the scientific method.
As a reliability engineer, I understand quite well how we develop and improve PROVEN components, subsystems and systems ... the mission-critical and safety-critical system that people trust, that win wars, that are more respected and trusted than anything in Science ... I understand WHY the Science is never settled .. WHY we can never grasp Reality as it truly is ... WHY, at best, we must understand the potential for error in our best understanding and how that understanding is necessarily biased by what we hope, fear, worry that Reality might be.
Science is the best that we have ... but it is necessarily biased by the fact that Science is human.
What makes those of us with a scientific frame of mind ESPECIALLY nervous is a matter of semiotics, semantics and definitions of terms ... which we hear in the pseudoscientific language of as some who are stretching past the limits of what is generally regarded as proven Science ... what is troubling for us is that we hear our language and terminology being used BEYOND boundaries where that language applies ... so we see tricksters, illusionists and charlatans in those who are using our good words.
Well ... are those words really ours or who does the realm of language and semiotic constructions belong to?
