Feature to invite users to a project/notification system

Problem

Currently we rely on generating a temoporary code that can be shared with another user, who can then use that code to join a project. This is feel clunky and not very reliable.

Solution

It would be great to have some form of notification feature, where you can get notified on various events such as when you are invited to an existing project. That way, owners and admins of a project can invite users based on username without having to rely on a temporary code, and users can get notified when they are invited.
