Refactoring on this template

Hello

I've done a set of refactorings of this template for my own personal use, i'd love an opportunity to provide this work back to the maintainers of this template. Is this the correct git repo to do it to (instead of the apache one?)
How best shall I contribute? A pull request with my changes for you review?

Thanks for all your work on this tool so far, it's excellent!

No templates are in Apache yet and this one will not be among them if the old “official” ones are donated.
