Summary of Changes

Hello @soffer-anyscale, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request introduces a new capability to Ray Data's Delta Lake connector, enabling users to read specific historical versions of Delta Lake tables. This enhancement improves data reproducibility and supports time-travel queries by allowing precise control over which table state is accessed.

Highlights

  • New Feature: Delta Lake Versioning: The read_delta function in ray.data now accepts an optional version argument, allowing users to specify a particular version of a Delta Lake table to read. If no version is specified, the latest version is read by default.

Code Review

This pull request adds a version argument to read_delta to allow reading a specific version of a Delta Lake table. The implementation is straightforward and correct. My main feedback is regarding the lack of unit tests for this new functionality, which is crucial for ensuring its correctness and preventing future regressions. I've suggested adding a test case to cover this.
