Papers & Slides
Use LaTeX or LyX to write your paper and slides.
Here are some tutorials that may help you get started:
- Write a professional research paper with LyX
- Create slides in no time with LyX
- Export your tables for print-ready publications
- Cheatsheet for LaTeX math commands
If you don't want to use LyX as a frontend for LaTeX, you could start using one of our LaTeX templates.
BibTex should be used according to the discretion of the PIs on the project. Regardless, the process for inline citations is as follows:
- When drafting a paper, PIs will write inline citations as normal, e.g. "Gentzkow and Shapiro (2011)."
- If the project is using BibTex, once a draft of the paper is complete, RAs will convert all inline citations to LyX citation fields and add a comprehensive
.bib
file. - If the project is not using BibTex, RAs will instead manually add references to the back of the paper.
We use data visualization to help uncover and exhibit patterns in data and to communicate information to our audiences. Every visualization—graph, map, or image—you create should be easy to interpret and follow the guidelines in Schwabish 2014.
Plots should always be exported in a high quality format such as EPS or PDF. To facilitate reproducibility, it is recommended to specify as many details (e.g., size, resolution) as possible when exporting a figure.
