As per changes in the Profile Resolution Specification draft (#1017 ), a new valid child object of "combine" (profile:merge:combine) will need to be added to the schemas.

"flat" is an optional child field with no valid contents (always empty). It indicates that the resolver should flatten all control output.

This issue will involve updating the Metaschema/model for Profile and ensuring any relevant documentation is updated.
