It's been busy and exciting in vitess upstream. to allow rolling deployment of multi-schema changes.
When new builds are deployed to a subset of the tablets in a shard (possibly one or more replica/rdonly), it is possible that we take a backup with the new build, and try to restore it on a host that still has an older build.
This change is to allow the tablet to be restored properly in such a transient state.
