Document the role of http://ogp.me/ and the like in the act of sharing. In particular, how does FB or G+ pick up that data to generate a wall post.

Folding in @ptarjan and @daveman692 from Facebook regarding how ogp.me is used by Facebook to pick up what generates wall posts. Also roping in @danbri in the hopes that he has a good contact on the G+ team regarding how schema.org and other signals are used to summarize G+ posts. Maybe @marcel from Twitter has something to add about how Twitter uses page signals to generate article previews.

Thanks @msporny! For people new to the discussion, we are trying to solve URL sharing on the Web.

Basically, we want to make it possible to add new share targets at the browser level but without disrupting any existing infrastructure:

https://developers.google.com/+/web/snippet/ is all we have currently.

Re OGP, I think Dave and Paul are on other projects for some time now.
