I'm submitting a ...
[x] feature request

...about
[x] Content Types or data management

Current behavior
You can export data in admin panels.

Expected behavior
Two features would be awesome to introduce:

  • Export data to other formats (xls, pdf, etc) with custom templates (like your mobious forms mail features)
  • Export data from a template, with user permissions. For example, one of my projects researcher needs a full entity export every month. I have to either export it myself every time, or create a table view with all data for him to manually copy-paste. Either way is troublesome. If I could set up a template with a button that would export data to file and download it, the researchers would have full autonomy.

What is the motivation / use case for changing the behavior?
Less work for developers, more independence for normal user tasks.

Great feature request - I see a lot of value in it.
As we're currently investing all our resources into the new Angular 6 UI, we won't be able to address this in 2018, so if someone would like this sooner, it needs to be contributed.

I'll close this, as I don't think anybody will pick this up any time soon. Pull put it the milestone which lists all needing contributions.
