I too cannot access any address books either. I had Evolution, Syncthing, decsync and evolution-decsync (Arch AUR repo) all installed, and working correctly for months, but a few months ago there were all kinds of problems with updating evolution-decsync, and since it was a huge mess trying to figure it all out, and I didn't have time to get into details I couldn't understand anyhow, I resorted to just use whatever backups and files related to my business with contact info, and evolutions "Collected" address book (default location, to make due. I searched high and low for answers, in cross referencing numbers, locations and what not, and they are where they should be and fact did find my contacts, but in VCard format, not as Addressbooks as Evolution natively stores them, but for the life of me I cannot find how to, nor why Evolution cannot see the connections even though as said, all references do point to the right places, but Evolution still cannot open the address books. All I get is this error: Unable to open address book “ADDRESS BOOK NAME” This address book cannot be opened. This either means that an incorrect URI was entered, or the server is unreachable. Detailed error message: Unable to connect to “ADDRESS BOOK NAME”: Backend factory for source "c3512d7f853458f6dcafb9e0a035a61fcb0ce70a” and extension “Address Book” cannot be found. I checked and have more than once, Evolution, decsync, the AUR, here ,and general web searches for answers to no avail and just found this thread. BTW: Whoever maintains the AUR package build of decsync-evolution seems uninterested, or unwilling to fix the continuing installation/update issues, or introduces new ones when they do, and is even rather smug about it, saying "it's not a priority" or similar, instead of at least reaching out to find someone who can and will take over maintaining the build and be glad to do so! Sorry, but in my book, that is unacceptable behavior! Please help. |
I took over the AUR package and updated it to 2.0.0, so please try it out. Tested it with Evolution 3.42. |
Thanks @flortsch! I thank you a bunch for taking over this project, and keeping it alive. Yippieeeeeeeeeeeee! (<: |
