Idea for Moderating Open Design Challenge

The decentralized moderating is a challenge task for decentralized social network. If we have selected group to decide, the problem goes back to a centralized decision. So it still has to be a public voting system. Common public voting system has two ways of achieving consensus: using tokens to vote or 1 vote 1 account. The first solution fails into the problem that whales can easily decide the voting result by holding large number of tokens. Even for evenly distributed tokens like mining or airdrop, there will still be big holders from the very beginning. On the other hand, 1 account 1 vote cannot avoid the problem that people may control multiple accounts to have heavy voting power.

To solve the above problems, using a quadratic voting system may bring a balance between the two voting system while still using a public way to vote for inappropriate content. The following image shows how quadratic formulas fixes the voting power.

In addition to a fair voting system, incentive of voting is important. Most of DAOs are lack of voters after the token price was dropped. So sort of long term incentive needs to be introduced to keep people motivated for voting for inappropriate contents
