I have a small question regarding how this works in terms of securing the origin. IIUC, the origin would still be public and anyone having origin URL could access it directly?
Is there a technique for securing the origin that it cannot be accessed directly that I am not seeing here?
Thanks!

I had the same thought. I figured out a similar solution that doesn't proxy to some upstream but serves the website through the lambda endpoint. It works for static websites and uses github oauth.
