I can confirm that the method mentioned by @DigiLive works (at least for the lights I have tested).

One thing I have noticed is if I hide an entity in this way, it still shows up as part of the view counter and using the view counter icon button to turn all lights off or on will still apply to those hidden entities.

Shouldn't they be excluded if they are hidden? Sorry if this is too far off topic and I can make a new issue.

This feature exists as a entity's card property which hides the card from the the dashboard.
The entity itself is still "active" and can still be operated (e.g. switch on/off) from within Home Assistant.

The chips and control cards are designed for counting and switching all "active" entities of a domain/area.

However, when hiding an entity from Lovelace, the entity is excluded by the chips and controller cards, which contradicts above statement.

Home Assistant's definition:

Hidden entities will not be shown on your dashboard or included when indirectly referenced (ie via an area or device). Their history is still tracked and you can still interact with them with actions.

Following this definition, setting the hidden property should not only hide the entity's card, but should also exclude the entity from the chips and controller cards.
