The means of generating discovery points should be modified. Ideas that have been brought up include:
Introducing experisci from /tg/.
Adding passive discovery point gain.
Reducing the amount of points needed to unlock tech nodes.
Repeatable scanning/dissections of lavaland fauna (and possibly others).
Why It's Good For The Game
Right now, discovery points gate very important research. However, obtainment of discovery points is only possible for two very hazardous jobs that spend all of their time off station. This is especially bad since Acula is low pop right now, so someone has to pick one of those jobs so that the station can progress. Adding additional avenues for point generation would allow people to progress the game in relative safety while still being able to interact with other players.
