Trumbowyg getting slow on Safari, but not on Chrome #1469

Description

I noticed having updated our application to latest Trumbowyg (and our clients to latest released macOS) that Trumbowyg while typing (even with a very small base64 image) gets VERY slow and freezes after two or three paragraphs. If I edit the same text in Google Chrome, there is no such issue.
Unfortunately, cannot see anything in the Javascript console that can hint at the cause.

Anyone else experiencing the same?
