I have a ps2 knock off controller and one of those usb to ps2 adapters. I'm having trouble with using the ./retroarch-joyconfig >> ~/RetroPie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg it says it
Found joypad driver: linuxraw
Using joypad: Twin USB joystick
Then the axis are all defaulted and Configuring binds for player #1 on joypad #0
After that the prompt for programming the buttons won't respond to the controller. Also the es input is recognized no problem. Should I just go and get a couple of ps3 controllers or is there a work around for this?

Try running jscal -c /dev/input/js0 and follow the instructions. It's really weird that the ES stuff works but the RetroArch stuff won't. You might have to write the retroarch.cfg file by hand. If that doesn't work, then I dunno.
No dice, I also tried with when with 'Analog' button selected (I remember it worked for some emulators on my computer). I'll probably just have to bite the bullet and get some decent controllers.
