https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXQoH4IQGMM

What happened?

The extension is correctly installed and on, but despite all other videos showing a dislike count, this video shows "disabled by owner."

dislikes

If this is really allowed for the video uploader, this is very concerning as this is unfair and censorship. Otherwise, this is a bug.

How to reproduce/recreate?

  1. Install the extension and turn it on
  2. Visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXQoH4IQGMM
  3. notice that dislikes button shows "DISABLED BY OWNER". Clicking doesn't seem to increase or decrease the count

Will you be available for follow-up questions to help developers diagnose & fix the issue?

Yes

This is the first video that I have ever experienced this bug with. So censoring their RYTD dislikes seems not something channels can do

Follow-up: "We will be showing dislikes on all videos soon" on the Discord. But that was 6 months ago. So this is more like an enhancement?

I say it's not a bug, it's a feature ... from YT itself!
Because (as a uploader) you can tell youtube to not show up informations about any numbers of likes/dislikes ... also you can define to show up or not how many clicks a video has.
And if there're no numbers nor informations provided you can't show them up, coz there's just no info 'bout that. ;-)

Yep, like @itsmetoolala said - it's not a bug, it's a feature. And it's not because I want to censor these videos - but because we lack data to show something comprehensible.

BUT. I do plan to show either raw dislike data from extension in these cases. OR to adjust total counts by view counts.

I'm getting this on videos that clearly have likes enabled. New issue?

This happens on videos that don't have dislikes disabled. I can easily test this by opening the same video on an incognito browser and it will show the dislike feature just fine.

Side-by-side comparison.

This is happening for a majority of videos for me, works fine in private browsing like others have said. When I like or dislike a video with this issue, the count returns. Firefox 105.0.1.

Then why does it say "disabled by owner" instead of "unknown"? The current wording heavily suggests that you accept requests from video uploaders to have their dislike counts hidden. This text does not appear if I disable RYD.

still actual

Please stop replying to old AF issues and create new ones instead, it's really annoying. This issue was solved a long while ago and it can be an entirely different scenario than months ago.

RYD measures both likes and dislikes, but for a lot of videos the sample size is probably too small to extrapolate from just RYD data, which is why they use the like count and other metrics for like-displaying videos.
