I can confirm this because on my full featured gentoo laptop with full KDE installed and many crypto application the library doesn't come installed by default, hence I can imagine it is missing on many lighter environments, I have noticed it running the AppImage generated via OBS that you can get here

https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/g10h4ck:/branches:/home:/AsamK:/RetroShare/AppImage/

I had to install app-crypt/p11-kit manually otherwise the appimage fail to start with the following error

retroshare: error while loading shared libraries: libp11-kit.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

the library is explicitely listed in https://github.com/AppImage/AppImages/blob/master/excludelist and also on the build log it is in excludelist

Well, Gentoo is not one of the supported distributions because there is no clear "default install" baseline nor a Live ISO image, to my knowledge. So it's a "moving target" that does not lend itself well to the application bundling approach (short of bundling every dependency.) We will continue to observe whether this issue also exists for the supported distributions.

We may consider looking into it once Gentoo can be booted with https://github.com/probonopd/SystemImageKit/.
