Help us understand your request (check below):

  • new feature or otherwise a good idea to make Arctos even better

Describe what you're trying to do
I would like to request we track operators who add citations (and ideally publications) to Arctos through their agent page. I have a student who is doing her undergrad senior project in museum studies, and she is entering voucher-related publications and citations for first our herp division and now our mammal division for the last 5+ years. I would like this effort to show up on her agent page so that she can use that in her resume.
I understand that I could create a project for this, and probably will. But it isn't clear to me how I would link her effort to a project, since everthing she is doing shows up only as that she has last edited a record, which also is not tracked on her agent page. Given that we do track agent activity for adding identifiers to records, this seems a no-brainer. Adding citations to publications is the single most important thing we do in collections - it is the ultimate goal to demonstrate usage for replicability and extension. And we so rarely have the resources to do this. I'd like to give credit to this student and to anyone who manages to accomplish this crucial link between museum specimens and their usage for research and education.
I believe there is a related issue to start tracking which agents entered a publication. I'd like to request that we also track who creates citations. Ideally retroactively for at least last semester, so this student can get credit.
