Should sheep eat other grass variants?

Tried to ranch them on grassy sandy dirt, noticed they don't eat the grass. Tried in creative and found only the rooted grass variant is eaten.

Checked code and saw there's a mixin for eating rooted grass but not the others.

I'm assuming this is a bug because around my spawn grassy sandy dirt is all over the place, I didn't notice its existance until my sheep fail to grow wool after a few in game days.
